DR Congo Mobile Sports Betting Market Sees Rapid Growth in 2025
The Democratic Republic of Congo has emerged as one of Africa's fastest-growing mobile sports betting markets in 2025, driven by increased smartphone penetration and a passionate sports culture.
Major international betting operators, including Bet365, 1xBet, and SportyBet, have expanded their presence in the country, offering mobile-first betting platforms in French and Lingala. Football remains the most popular betting sport, with the national team's AFCON qualification campaign driving significant wagering activity.
Local operators are also gaining market share, partnering with Congolese football clubs to establish brand visibility. The market's growth has attracted regulatory attention, with the Congolese Gaming Commission (CGC) announcing new responsible gambling guidelines scheduled for implementation in Q2 2025.
Industry analysts project the DR Congo betting market could reach $150 million by 2026, with mobile accounting for over 80% of all bets placed. The surge in digital betting has also created employment opportunities, with betting shops and customer support centers opening in major cities including Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, and Mbuji-Mayi.
