Mozambique's cheapest bookmaker and its best prices are not the same thing

The house with the lowest average margin in Mozambique is not the house holding most of this weekend's best prices. Those are two different things, and only one of them pays you.
An average margin describes how a book prices in general. Holding the top number on a given outcome is what actually puts money in a bettor's pocket on that bet. In this market the two measures point at different names.
Placard leads the board on best prices by a wide margin while sitting second on average cost. If you bet a specific match rather than a generic one, that is the more relevant fact.
An average tells you how a book behaves. A best price tells you what your bet is worth.

Brighton against Aston Villa is the tightest board of the round at 1.58%, and one of the few genuinely open matches on the card. Arsenal against Coventry is the widest at 7.04%, which is the Friday-night pattern this series keeps finding.
Read the holders down the page and the concentration is obvious. One name recurs far more often than any other, and it is not the one with the lowest average.
What the markets cost
Margin is the share written into the odds above a fair book. Here the three markets sit closer together than in most places.
- Match result5.81% at a typical book, 3.18% at the best available price
- Over and under 2.5 goals6.79% at a typical book, 5.09% at the best available price
- Both teams to score6.71% at a typical book, 4.54% at the best available price
Match result improves most when you compare, but it starts from a higher base than a keen board would and does not fall as far. Both teams to score is actually cheaper here than the goals line, which is unusual and worth knowing if that is a market you bet.
There is no market on this board where comparison is wasted, and none where it transforms the price either.

- Hollywoodbets7.20% overall · 7.38% · 6.90% · 7.34%
- Betway8.05% overall · 9.01% · 8.00% · 7.13%
888bet posts the lowest average and prices the match result at 3.01%, the keenest number in the market. Placard is a fraction behind on average and yet holds more than twice as many of the weekend's best prices, because it is consistently near the top across every outcome rather than excellent on some and ordinary on others.
For a bettor placing a specific bet, the second of those behaviours is the more valuable one.
Where the board pulls apart
The widest gaps of the weekend, then the price bands they sit in.
- Manchester City v Bournemouth, away win5.40 at one book against 6.59 at another, 22% better
- Brighton v Aston Villa, the draw3.30 at one book against 3.87 at another, 17% better
- Everton v Crystal Palace, the draw3.15 at one book against 3.66 at another, 16% better
- Fulham v Chelsea, the draw3.45 at one book against 3.98 at another, 15% better
- Brentford v Tottenham, the draw3.30 at one book against 3.77 at another, 14% better
- Favourites, under 2.001.70% below the best price on average
- Middling prices, 2.00 to 4.003.21% below
- Long shots, over 4.004.19% below
Bournemouth to win at Manchester City is quoted at 5.40 in one place and 6.59 in another. On MZN 500 that is MZN 595 of difference on a bet the market gives a 15% chance.
Two of the widest gaps this weekend are on draws, which are the hardest results to price and the ones houses most often disagree about.
How much of the best board is reachable
With the best prices concentrated the way they are, the first choice carries most of the weight.
- Placard57% of the best prices, 98.9% of the value
- Adding 888bet81% of the best prices, 99.9% of the value
- Adding Hollywoodbets99% of the best prices, 100.0% of the value
- Adding Betway100% of the best prices, 100.0% of the value
The leading name alone captures nearly all of the available value. A second adds the rest. That is a short list, and it is the practical answer to a market where averages and best prices disagree.
What to take from the first round
Judge a book by where its prices land, not by its average. The two measures disagree in this market, and the one that matters on any individual bet is the price in front of you.
Draws are where the disagreement is. Two of the weekend's widest gaps sit on the draw. If that pattern holds, it is the most reliable place here to find a better number.
The opener is expensive, again. The Friday-night match carried the widest board of the round, and it is the first thing worth re-checking next weekend.
This is the first instalment. Each round will be measured the same way.

Odds from the Mozambican bookmakers listed above on the Premier League fixtures of 21 to 24 August 2026, as at 18 August. Margin is the sum of the implied probabilities of every outcome in a market, less 100%. The best available price takes the highest number quoted on each outcome anywhere in the Mozambican market. Percentages beside a fixture are the market's own view of it once margin is stripped out. Odds move; the numbers here describe a snapshot, not a guarantee. 18+. Bet responsibly.
